In 2011, the Wikimedia Foundation again participated in the Google Summer of Code. Projects are now complete. The following eight projects were chosen (blog post):

- Kevin Brownâs âWorking Archival for Web References/Citations,â âto facilitate the archival of external links used as references in the English Wikipediaâ (mentor: Neil Kandalgaonkar)
- Devayon Dasâs âImproving Semantic Search/Semantic Query usability issues in SMWâ (mentor: Markus Krötzsch)
- Ankit Gargâs âSemantic Schemas extensionâ (mentor: Yaron Koren)
- Salvatore Ingalaâs âAMICUS: Awesome Monolithic Infrastructure for Customization of User Scriptsâ (mentors: Brion Vibber and Max Semenik)
- Aigerim Karabekovaâs âExtension Release Managementâ (mentors: Sam Reed, Priyanka Dhanda, and Chad Horohoe)
- Yuvi Pandaâs âMaking Offline Wikipedia Article Selection Easier with MediaWiki Extensionsâ (mentor: Arthur Richards)
- Zhenya Vlasyenkoâs âMediaWiki Extension: SocialProfile â UserStatus featureâ (mentor: Jack Phoenix)
Seven of the students finished their GSoC summers (midterm blog post, final roundup post). They have uploaded representative tarballs into the Google Code portfolio repository.
