Welcome to WikiProject Bug Squad
A home for MediaWiki bug squashers

What is the Bug Squad?

The idea for MediaWiki's Bug Squad comes from KDE's Bug Squad. We'll try to borrow their good ideas and add our own spin. Joining the bug squad is markedly easier. Just choose an activity and go. Testing of any bug should be done against trunk. If you don't have your own set up, you are encouraged to use beta.wmflabs.org.

All (that includes you) are invited to participate in each of our ongoing and upcoming activities.

  • Monitor new, unprioritized bugs, and adjust priority to Highest if it is an emergency. Also, make sure a developer in #mediawiki connect is aware of the problem.
  • Go through unconfirmed bug reports and try to reproduce them, moving them to the “NEW” status.
  • Go though bug reports older than 6 months and verify that they are still valid.
  • Write unit tests and Selenium scripts that will verify a bug has been fixed.
  • Find task candidates to tag as easy.
  • Host a bug triage.

Participants may use this code on either MediaWiki or Wikipedia: {{User MW Bug Squad }} to get this userbox:

This user is an official member of the MediaWiki Bug Squad.

Anyone who is interested in participating in Bug Squad activities or assisting developers with bug squashing is welcome to include their name on the participant list by clicking the Join button.
